Outside the lab: Jenny has worked with Dr. Kate Biberdorf founding an organization called Bold Women in Chemistry (BWIC), which focuses on chemistry-related community outreach and includes mentorship opportunities for women at all levels of chemistry. Additionally, she leads a Virtual Presentation program where chemists at UT can visit K-12 classrooms over video chat to talk about what it means to be a scientist, answer their own science questions, and show them fun visual chemistry experiments to cultivate young student interest in science careers and higher education.

Mason L. Valentine

Outside the lab: Mason is planning on doing research and development in either industry or government. He’s been involved in Exxon’s Partners in Academic Lab Safety (PALS) program and has taken courses through UT’s communication school to develop skills for  working outside of academia.

Outside the lab: Kavya is an officer in the Undergraduate Research Journal and a member of the Dean’s Scholars Honors Program to promote research and host events on campus and in the community. She is also a member of BWIC and participates in virtual presentations with Jenny. In her free time, she volunteers at CD Doyle to provide healthcare to homeless populations and works with kids at the Helping Hand Home for Children.
